Be A Better Remote Manager
Be a Better Remote Manager – They Don’t Have To See You. Build Trust with Your Employees. They Don’t Have To See You is an amazingly quick read that can help managers embrace how the working world has redefined the working world.
I must say, as a partially remote employee, I relished this amazingly helpful yet easy to read book!
Chock full of much needed strategies for managers to catch up to all the changes that have taken place in workplaces all over the world. By my way of thinking, it is unfortunate that it took a worldwide pandemic to bring about the changes employees have long desired. The working world has all the tools necessary to make the much needed changes. Unfortunately, as we all know, change can be difficult for some. I’m sure there were folks who said they would never trade their horse for a new-fangled motor car. But here we all are: making, buying and driving millions of cars all over the world. And now the long awaited “remote working era” is here! And yet, there are companies trying to bring their employees back into the office. What? Really? Yes, really!
Now with the working remote era upon us, how will managers around the world adapt to supervising their employees when they can’t see them in person? Author Hollis Avery has the answers. In his book, They Don’t Have To See You – Be A Better Remote Manager, the author explains how to be a better remote manager and how to build trust with your employees. His managerial guidebook provides managers with a “step-by-step guide on how managers can create and maintain a healthy remote work ecosystem.” Be A Better Remote Manager also provides invaluable tips on how to not just hire remote employees, but how to remotely hire highly talented, cream of the crop remote job seekers.
One of my favorite tips in Be A Better Remote Manager is “interact with like-minded people.” If you are a manager who is struggling or just having a difficult time with some aspects of being a remote manager, I highly recommend you read: Be A Better Remote Manager. As Hollis Avery says in his book, “Get ready to embrace the remote working model while improving your team’s performance, wellbeing, and cooperation.”
If you are someone who, like the ones who wanted to keep the Pony Express way of life, I challenge you to wake up and smell the remote coffee. Talented and highly motivated “Remote Employees” are here (and some of them probably are working for you right now). Has it occurred to you that they may leave for greener pastures? Are you prepared to lose those highly-trained employees? If you are, you may be in for a rude awakening when you finally realize you are missing out on the best candidates for the your job openings. And worse yet, you lost highly qualified employees as you clung to the past. In the meantime, other savvy companies are out there enjoying the available pool of highly qualified, and highly motivated job candidates. Those candidates are not looking for non-remote jobs. And know this, they are not willing to settle for partial-remote job positions. They have the skills you need, but they will go elsewhere to find the fully remote position they desire. Now where does that leave you and your company?
Well, at some point, you are bound to realize your company and its managers are just a part of the “work-in-office” past. I have just one more example of what happens when we don’t accept change. Remember what the first telephone service was like? Of course you don’t. We weren’t even born yet. However, would you pass up your highly valuable and cherished iPhone for a relic from the past? Of course not! In fact, I would guess that much like the rest of us, you are waiting to grab up the latest cell phone model as soon as it is released for sale. In fact, you forward thinkers out there have probably already pre-ordered it.
