The Sound of Rain (Nicole Foster Thriller No. 1) by Gregg Olsen
- Homicide detective Nicole Foster hits the skids in this thrill crime mystery book. Nicole is a woman with a gambling addiction. She relapses, but struggles her way back from the brink, all the while keeping her eyes on solving the crime. A three-years old girl has been murdered and her body is missing. There’s lots of evil, lies, and betrayal in this crime novel. I found myself drawn into this story of a tough, yet vulnerable woman detective who was willing to go all the way to solve the crime. The Sound of Rain is a taut, emotional page-turner of a book.
Year Of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
- The Year Of Yes is authored by the mega-talented Shonda Rhimes. Ms. Rhimes created and produced some very popular television series, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. This book was a pleasure to read as Shonda writes just like she’s talking to you as a good friend.
- Shonda decided one day, to stop saying “no” to things she would rather not tackle. Shonda takes us along on her journey and adventure of saying “yes.” Whether you agree with Ms. Rhimes on any particular subject really doesn’t matter because she expresses herself with honesty and brings her point across in her own forthright manner. I enjoyed that fact that this is book written by a strong and intelligent woman expressing herself in a way that may inspire other women.
