I enjoyed reading Bright Lights Big Christmas! Over the years I have read many books written by Mary Kay Andrews. I have always enjoyed her feel good women’s fiction stories.  In fact, if I feel like I need a “pick-me-up” I read a book by an author who can deliver a satisfying read. In addition to the story itself, Andrews is an expert in character development. In fact, without her expertise this book would be just another holiday read. Through her knack for character development, the author brings this story to life.

This book is chock full of engaging characters with vivid personalities. In fact, at tone point we learn one the characters engaged in some fisticuffs over holiday trees. The array of characters in this story strongly drew me in. We have a brother and sister who travel across states to transport and sell their family’s Christmas trees. And there is a cute little boy who takes a liking to a feeble old man who lives a life you would not imagine.

All in all, this holiday novel is my favorite read written by Mary Kay Andrews. In addition, this holiday story has a lot of the criteria necessary for an enjoyable book club holiday pick. Get the book and enjoy the read!
